Description: MP-IPV6-MIB module
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is MP-IPV6-MIB?
MP-IPV6-MIB is a private MIB (extending MMPF-MIB) implementing an SNMP-driven ping6 (ICMPv6 echo) diagnostic. Its ping table, keyed by ping ID, records target address and target site ID, a request-send trigger, data length, hop limit, send timeout, source interface, status, result, and an error-source-address field for a failed ping. As a diagnostic MIB it lets an administrator trigger an IPv6 reachability test to a remote target directly via SNMP and retrieve the result without CLI access. It is deployed on this vendor's IPv6-capable routers. Engineers can download the MP-IPV6-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MP-IPV6-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- IPv6-capable routers (SNMP-driven ping6 diagnostic)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator sets mpIpv6PingRequestSend to trigger an IPv6 reachability test to a remote site, then reads mpIpv6PingResult to confirm connectivity without needing CLI access to the device.
What Can Be Monitored
- ICMPv6 ping test trigger and result
