What Is MDS-REG-MIB?
MDS-REG-MIB is a registration MIB from Microwave Data Systems (MDS) that simply defines the enterprise OID sub-tree structure under which MDS's microwave/radio data-link equipment MIBs are organized. It contains no runtime managed objects itself; it exists purely to establish the OID namespace (module identity and sub-tree branches) that other MDS MIBs build upon. Consequently it has no direct role in exposing hardware or software status data such as uptime, signal strength, or fault conditions; that data lives in other MDS MIBs that register under this tree. Its dependency relationship is foundational rather than functional: every other MDS-specific MIB depends on the OID structure this module establishes. It is typically referenced only indirectly, during MIB compilation, for MDS wireless/microwave data-radio equipment deployments. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the MDS-REG-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
