What Is DIGI-MOBILE-INFORMATION-MIB?
This is a Digi International vendor MIB providing status information for the cellular mobile interface(s) on Digi's cellular-equipped routers and gateways. It exposes a generic name/value information structure that enumerates mobile interfaces and reports per-interface fields such as carrier, signal quality, and connection state under a flexible info table rather than fixed dedicated objects. As a monitoring module it is directly useful for confirming the software/hardware status of the device's cellular WAN connection -- whether the modem currently has signal and is attached to a carrier network -- which is critical for devices relying on cellular as a primary or backup WAN link. It layers on top of the standard interfaces model (paralleling ifIndex-style interface identification) to associate mobile info with a specific network interface. It is deployed on Digi cellular routers/gateways used for remote sites, kiosks, or IoT/M2M deployments where a cellular modem provides WAN connectivity, monitored via SNMP. Engineers can download the DIGI-MOBILE-INFORMATION-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DIGI-MOBILE-INFORMATION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Digi cellular router/gateway (e.g. Digi TransPort or IX-series with embedded cellular modem)
Monitoring Examples
Polling miTable (miNumber, miIndex) enumerates the mobile interfaces present on the device, and for each one, miInfoTable rows keyed by miInfoInterface and miInfoIndex expose miInfoName/miInfoValue pairs such as signal strength or carrier name; a miInfoValue showing very low signal or a 'no service' condition would explain a cellular backhaul link that has become unreliable or dropped. miNumFields indicates how many such info fields are available per interface, letting a management script know how much data to expect.
What Can Be Monitored
- mobile interface count/enumeration
- carrier/signal strength info
- cellular connection state
- per-interface info field values
