Description: Marvell Semiconductor traffic segmentation MIB defining port-based private VLAN and traffic isolation configuration objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is MARVELL-TrafficSegmentation-MIB?

MARVELL-TrafficSegmentation-MIB is a Marvell Semiconductor SNMP MIB for switches built on Marvell switching silicon, defining port-based traffic segmentation (private-VLAN-like isolation) configuration objects. It exposes a configuration table (rlTrafficSegConfigTable) defining, per segmentation group, the set of allowed ingress and egress ports, and a corresponding per-port table (rlTrafficSegTable) recording each port's actual configured ingress/egress port membership and row status. Because this MIB is primarily a configuration/policy MIB rather than a runtime counters MIB, its main monitoring value is confirming that traffic-isolation policy is correctly and consistently applied - verifying rlTrafficSegConfigRowStatus/rlTrafficSegRowStatus are active and that ingress/egress port sets match intended segmentation, a software-configuration correctness check rather than a hardware health check. It has no explicit cross-MIB dependency shown, functioning as a self-contained Marvell chipset-level configuration extension similar in spirit to standard VLAN/private-VLAN MIBs. It is deployed on enterprise/SMB switches using Marvell switching ASICs where administrators need to isolate groups of ports from each other for security (e.g. guest networks, multi-tenant environments) without full VLAN segmentation. Engineers can download the MARVELL-TrafficSegmentation-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MARVELL-TrafficSegmentation-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ethernet switch with Marvell switching silicon

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would walk rlTrafficSegConfigTable/rlTrafficSegConfigEntry by rlTrafficSegConfigIndex to confirm which ingress and egress ports are permitted in each segmentation group, then cross-check the per-port rlTrafficSegTable to verify a specific port's rlTrafficSegIngressPorts/rlTrafficSegEgressPorts match the intended policy. An unexpected rlTrafficSegRowStatus value on a port would reveal that a segmentation rule failed to apply, potentially exposing traffic that should have been isolated.

What Can Be Monitored

  • traffic segmentation group port membership
  • per-port ingress/egress port isolation settings
  • segmentation configuration row status/active state
