Description: Marvell Inc. Policy-Based Routing (PBR) MIB defining route map and policy rule management objects for traffic steering on Marvell switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is MARVELL-PBR-MIB?
MARVELL-PBR-MIB is a Marvell Inc. proprietary module defining Policy-Based Routing (PBR) configuration objects for steering traffic on Marvell-chipset switches/routers, based on route maps and access lists rather than the destination-based routing table alone. It exposes per-interface PBR bindings (route map name, address family, row status) and detailed policy information such as matched access-list names and configured next-hop addresses. Its monitoring value is primarily configuration/policy status: operators can confirm which interfaces have PBR enabled, which route map is applied, and what next-hop each policy rule redirects matching traffic to. It depends on companion Marvell route-map MIB objects (e.g., MARVELL-ROUTEMAP-MIB) to resolve the named route maps referenced here. It is typically deployed on enterprise or service-provider switches/routers using Marvell silicon where traffic engineering via policy routing is configured. Engineers can download the MARVELL-PBR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in MARVELL-PBR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Marvell-chipset-based switches/routers
Monitoring Examples
An operator would poll rlPBRTable/rlPBREntry to confirm rlPBRRouteMapName and rlPBRStatus/rlPBRRowStatus for each interface, then cross-check rlPBRInfoTable's rlPBRInfoNexthopInetAddressType and rlPBRInfoNexthopInetAddress to verify traffic is being redirected to the intended next hop. A PBR entry showing an active rlPBRRowStatus but no corresponding valid next-hop in rlPBRInfoTable would reveal a broken or incomplete policy-routing configuration.
What Can Be Monitored
- PBR enablement per interface
- applied route map name
- PBR row/admin status
- matched access list name
- configured next-hop address
