Description: LSI-megaRAID-SAS-IR-MIB module

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LSI-megaRAID-SAS-IR-MIB?

This MIB is a proprietary module from LSI Corporation (now part of Broadcom) for the MegaRAID SAS Integrated RAID (IR) family of hardware RAID controllers used in servers and storage systems. It exposes agent/host identification data, adapter inventory, and RAID-specific operational parameters such as rebuild and reconstruction rates and alarm state. It is explicitly used to monitor hardware status of the storage subsystem: adapter presence and properties, RAID rebuild/reconstruction progress after a disk failure or replacement, and audible/visual alarm state signaling a fault condition, giving administrators an early warning of degraded array health. As a hardware-vendor RAID agent MIB it generally stands alone as a self-contained management interface rather than depending on other standard MIBs, though it is often deployed alongside general host/OS MIBs (e.g., HOST-RESOURCES-MIB) for full server visibility. It is typically deployed on servers equipped with LSI/Broadcom MegaRAID SAS controllers, monitored via an SNMP subagent bundled with the RAID management software stack. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the LSI-megaRAID-SAS-IR-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LSI-megaRAID-SAS-IR-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • server with LSI/Broadcom MegaRAID SAS RAID controller

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polling adapterPropertiesTable by adpNumber can retrieve per-controller identification and configuration, while rebuildRate and reconstructionRate reveal whether a degraded RAID array is actively rebuilding after a drive replacement and how quickly. alarmState indicates whether the controller has raised a hardware fault or predictive-failure alarm, which combined with hostOSInfo and mibVersion helps correlate the alert with the specific host and controller firmware/agent version in a support ticket.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RAID rebuild rate
  • RAID reconstruction rate
  • controller alarm state
  • adapter/controller inventory
  • agent and firmware version
