Description: Aruba Networks vendor-type definitions for RADIUS VSA and protocol attribute encoding.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ARUBA-VENDORTYPE?
This is an Aruba Networks enterprise MIB defining vendor-type object identifiers used to identify hardware component categories, such as chassis, backplane, and module types, across Aruba products, and commonly referenced in RADIUS Vendor-Specific Attribute (VSA) encoding. It exposes an enumeration-like OID structure (aSystemUnknown, aSystemChassis, aSystemBackplane, aSystemModule) used by other Aruba MIBs and by RADIUS-based systems to classify which hardware component a given attribute or entry pertains to. Its monitoring relevance is indirect: it supports the identification of chassis, backplane, and module hardware components referenced by Aruba's inventory and status MIBs rather than exposing counters or state itself. It underlies both Aruba's SNMP MIB family and Aruba's RADIUS VSA dictionary, making it a shared dependency across both management protocols. It's typically deployed as a supporting/imported MIB wherever Aruba wireless controllers or switches are managed via SNMP or authenticate users via RADIUS with vendor-specific attributes. Engineers can download the ARUBA-VENDORTYPE file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ARUBA-VENDORTYPE. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Aruba Networks wireless controllers and switches
Monitoring Examples
A management tool resolving hardware inventory on an Aruba controller would use the aSystemChassis, aSystemBackplane, or aSystemModule identifiers under arubaVendorTypeMIBObjects/arubaSystem to label which physical component a status object refers to. Similarly, a RADIUS server processing Aruba VSAs would reference this same vendor-type numbering to interpret which system component an authentication/accounting attribute describes.
What Can Be Monitored
- hardware component type classification (chassis/backplane/module)
- vendor-type identifiers referenced by RADIUS VSAs and inventory MIBs
