What Is LENOVO-SMI-MIB?

LENOVO-SMI-MIB is the Structure of Management Information module establishing Lenovo's top-level private enterprise OID namespace for the Lenovo Enterprise Business Group's SNMP-managed products. It belongs to the general enterprise-server/infrastructure hardware technology area. As a pure SMI registration module it contains no data objects itself; it exists solely to define the OID root under which Lenovo's actual server, storage, and networking hardware MIBs, covering system health, temperature, power, and fan status, are organized. It has no monitorable hardware/software objects of its own — those live in the child MIB modules built beneath this tree, such as Lenovo server or BMC-related MIBs. The LENOVO-SMI-MIB MIB depends on the standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprise-registration mechanism and is a required prerequisite for any Lenovo-specific product MIB. It is used in enterprise data centers running Lenovo ThinkSystem/ThinkServer hardware managed via SNMP.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LENOVO-SMI-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Lenovo ThinkSystem/ThinkServer/networking hardware (any generation, Enterprise Business Group OID root)

Monitoring Examples

LENOVO-SMI-MIB has no sample objects and, as an OID-registration-only module, defines nothing pollable itself; actual hardware monitoring such as temperature, power supply, and fan status would be found in the dependent Lenovo product MIBs rooted under this tree, not in this module.
