Description: Lexmark root MIB defining the enterprise OID namespace and product registration hierarchy for Lexmark printer MIB modules.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is LEXMARK-ROOT-MIB?
LEXMARK-ROOT-MIB is Lexmark International's enterprise root SNMP module, defining the top-level OID namespace ("lexmark", "lexmarkModules", "lexmarkMibObjects") under which all of Lexmark's printer-specific MIB modules are registered. It contains no runtime data objects of its own -- it is purely a naming/registration structure, not a source of live status data. As such it has no direct role in exposing hardware/software status; its function is solely to organize the OID tree so that individual Lexmark printer MIBs (toner, paper tray, print job, device status, etc.) have a consistent home. It is a foundational dependency for every Lexmark product-specific MIB module, which import and extend definitions from this root. It's present on every Lexmark printer/MFP as the OID-hierarchy anchor, referenced when identifying a device via sysObjectID or when locating the correct sub-branch for detailed printer monitoring. Engineers can download the LEXMARK-ROOT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LEXMARK-ROOT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Lexmark printer or multifunction printer (root/registration module, all Lexmark models)
Monitoring Examples
This is a conformance/registration module with no runtime data objects -- lexmark, lexmarkModules, and lexmarkMibObjects are purely OID-tree anchors, not instrumented counters or status values, so there's no monitoring scenario to describe here beyond using them to identify which sub-branch holds a given Lexmark printer's actual status objects. An NMS would use a device's sysObjectID (rooted under "lexmark") to recognize it as a Lexmark product and then look up the appropriate product-specific MIB registered under lexmarkMibObjects for real monitoring data.
