Description: Defines a textual convention for representing BCP 47 language tags in SNMP MIB modules.
IPNetwork Monitor uses several OIDs from this MIB in network discovery and polling the applicable devices. Start monitoring LANGTAG-TC-MIB with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor.
What Is LANGTAG-TC-MIB?
LANGTAG-TC-MIB is a vendor-neutral IETF textual-convention MIB module that defines a single reusable data type for representing BCP 47 language tags (e.g., "en-US") within other SNMP MIB modules. It does not itself expose any object instances, tables, traps, or device state; it supplies a standardized syntax other MIBs import when they need to tag data such as log messages with a language identifier. As a pure textual-convention/support MIB it has no bearing on hardware or software status monitoring — there is no uptime, temperature, CPU, or fault data here, only a type definition consumed by other modules. Its entire purpose is to be depended upon by other MIB modules needing a standard language-tag type, making it a foundational building-block MIB rather than a standalone one. It is not deployed or polled directly on any device; it is referenced indirectly whenever another MIB imports its textual convention. Engineers implementing or auditing this functionality typically reference the LANGTAG-TC-MIB RFC/standard documentation for the authoritative specification.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LANGTAG-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, not tied to a specific manufacturer — used as an imported type definition by other MIBs
Monitoring Examples
This module defines only a textual convention (a data type), not any runtime objects, tables, or traps, so there is no monitoring scenario to describe — it cannot be polled on a device by itself. Its only use is being imported by other MIB modules that need to express a BCP 47 language tag value.
