Description: Juniper Networks MIB for managing UNI (User-Network Interface) interface configurations on Juniper E-series edge routers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Juniper-UNI-IF-MIB?

Juniper-UNI-IF-MIB is a Juniper Networks enterprise "Generic Interfaces" MIB for JUNOSe E-series platforms, providing an interface table, interface stacking/layering relationships, and per-interface-type counts. It exposes inventory-style data: interface type, stack status between logical/physical layers, and aggregate counts of interfaces by type. Its monitoring value is mainly software/inventory health: juniIfCountTable and juniIfCountNumberOfInterfaces track how many interfaces of a given type exist, letting an admin detect an unexpected drop after a line-card reset or software fault, while juniIfInvStackTable/juniIfInvStackStatus confirms that layered interfaces (e.g., ATM sub-interfaces over physical ports) remain properly stacked. It complements the standard IF-MIB and its ifStackTable, adding Juniper-specific per-type counting. It is typically deployed on Juniper E-series edge routers with complex multi-layer interface stacks (ATM/PPP/VLAN over physical ports). Engineers can download the Juniper-UNI-IF-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-UNI-IF-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper E-series router (JUNOSe)

Monitoring Examples

An admin can poll juniIfCountTable (juniIfCountIfType, juniIfCountNumberOfInterfaces) to track interface counts by type and catch an unexpected drop after a line-card event, then check juniIfInvStackTable/juniIfInvStackStatus to confirm dependent logical interfaces are still correctly layered on their parent. juniIfTable/juniIfType supplies the base inventory used to cross-reference against standard ifTable entries.

What Can Be Monitored

  • interface count by type
  • interface stacking/layering status
  • interface type inventory
  • interface index-to-type mapping
