Organization: Juniper Networks, Inc.

Last Updated: 2003-09-29

Category: Network Interfaces, Vendor: Juniper

Description: Defines conformance statements for HDLC (High-Level Data Link Control) interface management on Juniper Networks E-series platforms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is Juniper-HDLC-CONF?

Juniper-HDLC-CONF is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES conformance module describing which portions of the HDLC (High-Level Data Link Control) interface management MIB are supported by the SNMP agent on Juniper E-series routers. It contains no runtime data objects itself, only declarations of implemented groups and variations for the associated HDLC interface MIB. As such it has no bearing on live hardware or software status monitoring and is not something an operator would poll during normal operations. It exists purely to inform NMS tools and MIB compilers of agent capability for HDLC-encapsulated serial/WAN interfaces. It applies to Juniper E-series routers that support HDLC-framed WAN links. Engineers can download the Juniper-HDLC-CONF file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in Juniper-HDLC-CONF. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Juniper E-series router

Monitoring Examples

This module is an AGENT-CAPABILITIES definition with no runtime data objects (sample_objects is empty), so there is no realistic monitoring scenario to describe; it only declares which OIDs of the associated HDLC interface MIB the agent supports.
