Category: Network Monitoring (RMON), Vendor: Allied Telesis

Description: Defines remote monitoring (RMON) extensions for Allied Telesis iTouch devices, supporting network traffic statistics and analysis.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ITOUCH-RMON-MIB?

ITOUCH-RMON-MIB defines remote monitoring (RMON) extensions for Allied Telesis iTouch devices, extending standard RMON (RFC 2819) concepts within the vendor's iTouch enterprise MIB family. It covers network traffic statistics and analysis such as historical utilization, alarms, and events for monitored network segments. Rather than physical hardware health, this MIB is used to monitor traffic-handling performance and anomaly conditions—threshold-based alarms and event logging reveal when a link's error rate or utilization crosses configured limits, effectively serving as a fault/performance monitoring layer. It builds directly on the standard RMON MIB structure. It is typically deployed on enterprise LANs running Allied Telesis iTouch equipment where granular traffic analysis is needed without a dedicated external RMON probe, and administrators can download the ITOUCH-RMON-MIB file to load it directly into their monitoring tools.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ITOUCH-RMON-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • iTouch Communications (later Black Box) network devices

Monitoring Examples

No sample object names were supplied for this MIB. Consistent with RMON-style modules, an admin would expect to poll history and alarm/event tables for a monitored interface to detect a spike in error rate or utilization crossing a configured alarm threshold, though exact object names cannot be confirmed without a sample list.

What Can Be Monitored

  • traffic statistics per interface/segment
  • RMON alarm threshold crossings
  • RMON event log entries
  • historical utilization/error trends
