Category: Network Monitoring (RMON)
Description: Manages CRM traffic management system connection tables, session state, and per-connection statistics.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CRMCONNECTION-MIB?
CRMCONNECTION-MIB is a vendor MIB, likely from a Connection Resource Manager for ATM/traffic-shaped networks, used to manage per-connection traffic parameters on ATM or similar cell-based traffic management systems. It exposes tables of connection parameter entries covering cell delay variation tolerance (CDVT), cell loss priority, cell delay priority, usage parameter control (UPC) settings, and traffic shaping information per connection. It is primarily a configuration/performance MIB rather than a hardware-health MIB, letting operators monitor per-connection QoS and policing parameters, though sustained anomalies in these values can reveal a failing line card or congested port. It builds on the standard org/dod/internet SMI OID hierarchy and is used alongside other ATM/traffic-management MIBs for full session visibility. It is typically deployed in ATM switches, traffic managers, or WAN edge devices that need fine-grained per-connection QoS enforcement and monitoring, typically after a CRMCONNECTION-MIB download is used to load the module into the monitoring platform.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CRMCONNECTION-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ATM traffic management system
- WAN edge switch
Monitoring Examples
An operator can poll crmTrPrmTable indexed by crmTrPrmIndex to retrieve the CDVT (crmTrPrmCDVT), cell loss priority (crmTrPrmCellLossPriority), and UPC parameters (crmTrPrmUPCInfo1 through crmTrPrmUPCInfo4) for each active connection, verifying that traffic contracts are being enforced as configured. If crmTrPrmShapingInfo1 shows values inconsistent with the provisioned service category, it suggests a misconfigured shaping profile on that connection. Repeated policing violations reflected in these values can help pinpoint an oversubscribed customer circuit before it triggers cell loss.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-connection CDVT
- cell loss priority
- cell delay priority
- UPC traffic parameters
- traffic shaping profile
