Category: Vendor: Intel

Description: Intel Layer 3 link MIB providing SNMP objects for routed interface management and Layer 3 link status on Intel switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is INTEL-L3LINK-MIB?

INTEL-L3LINK-MIB is an Intel MIB for managing Layer 3 routed interfaces on Intel-brand managed switches. It exposes a table of L3 interfaces along with their VLAN association and lets an administrator create or delete routed interfaces via SNMP. It is used to monitor whether a routed VLAN interface is operationally up or down, which directly signals routing-path failures at the hardware/software boundary of the switch. It likely relies on the standard IF-MIB ifIndex numbering space and VLAN identification conventions to tie L3 interfaces back to physical/logical ports. It is deployed on Intel switches that support Layer 3 routing, used by network operations teams to confirm routed links remain functional. Engineers can download the INTEL-L3LINK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in INTEL-L3LINK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Intel managed switches (Layer 3 capable)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll l3lkInterfaceTable/l3lkInterfaceEntry for each l3lkInterfaceIfIndex and check l3lkInterfaceStatus to detect a routed interface going down, which would explain a sudden loss of inter-VLAN routing. l3lkInterfaceVlanId confirms which VLAN a given L3 interface serves. l3lkInterfaceCreateObj and l3lkInterfaceDeleteObj can be used to provision or remove routed interfaces remotely via SNMP SET operations.

What Can Be Monitored

  • L3 interface operational status
  • VLAN ID association per L3 interface
  • interface creation/deletion state
