Description: Intel Express 480T switch system MIB providing SNMP objects for chassis, fans, power supply, and firmware management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is INTEL-ES480-SYSTEM-MIB?

INTEL-ES480-SYSTEM-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB providing chassis-level system objects for Intel's Express 480T stackable Ethernet switch. It exposes chassis/hardware inventory information along with fan and power supply status and firmware/software version details for the switch. Its purpose is explicitly hardware-health monitoring: fan operational status and power supply presence/failure are core physical health indicators, and firmware version tracking supports software-level status checks across a stack of units. It shares the Intel enterprise OID tree with the companion INTEL-ES480-QOS-MIB, both describing the same physical device from different angles. It is deployed on Intel Express 480T switches in wiring closets and data centers where physical chassis health needs to be monitored, often after administrators complete an INTEL-ES480-SYSTEM-MIB download to load the module into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in INTEL-ES480-SYSTEM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Intel Express 480T stackable Ethernet switch chassis

Monitoring Examples

Following the standard Intel ES480T system convention, an admin would poll chassis/fan/power-supply status tables to confirm all fans are spinning and that redundant power supplies are present and functioning, alongside a firmware/software version object used to track code levels consistently across a stack; a reported fan or power-supply failure would prompt immediate physical inspection.

What Can Be Monitored

  • fan operational status
  • power supply status
  • chassis/firmware version
  • system uptime
  • chassis inventory/model information
