Category: Alarm and Event Management, Domain: Server Hardware, Vendor: IBM

Description: IBM IMM Alert MIB defining trap notifications for hardware fault events from IBM Integrated Management Module controllers.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is IMMALERT-MIB?

IMMALERT-MIB is an IBM proprietary MIB (enterprise OID 2, IMM — Integrated Management Module) carrying detailed hardware-alert trap fields for IBM server platforms. Its objects cover alert date/time, service-processor text ID, system UUID/serial number, priority, message text/ID/ID-prefix, host contact/location/room-ID/rack-ID/lowest-U-position/blade-bay, event ID, serviceable/test flags, failing FRU list, host machine-type-model, and auxiliary data. As a notification MIB it lets an administrator receive a fully-located hardware alert — down to rack/U-position/blade-bay — and identify exactly which field-replaceable unit failed. It is deployed on IBM server platforms with an Integrated Management Module (IMM). Engineers can download the IMMALERT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IMMALERT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • IBM server platforms (Integrated Management Module)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator reads altHostRackID, altHostLowestUpos, and altFailingFRUs from an IMM alert to locate the exact rack position and failed component without needing to check the console.

What Can Be Monitored

  • hardware alert location and failing FRU identification
