Description: Lucent private MIB for Internet Group Management Protocol (IGMP) providing extensions for multicast group management.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is IGMP-PRIVATE-MIB?
IGMP-PRIVATE-MIB (internally documented as the "Cajun IGMP PRIVATE MIB") is a Lucent/Avaya private extension MIB for the Cajun family of Ethernet switches, adding proprietary objects around IGMP (Internet Group Management Protocol) snooping/multicast group management beyond what the standard IGMP MIB provides. Because no sample objects were available for this module, its precise data model cannot be confirmed, but private IGMP extension MIBs of this kind typically expose per-VLAN or per-port IGMP snooping state, multicast group membership tables, and querier configuration. In a monitoring context such a MIB would generally be used to check the operational/software state of IGMP snooping (enabled/disabled per interface) and multicast group table population rather than classic hardware sensors. It is a vendor extension to the standard IETF IGMP MIB lineage and would be used alongside it. It would typically be deployed on Lucent/Avaya Cajun-series Ethernet switches in networks relying on IP multicast for applications like video distribution. Engineers can download the IGMP-PRIVATE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IGMP-PRIVATE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Lucent/Avaya Cajun-series Ethernet switches
Monitoring Examples
Without confirmed sample objects, a precise monitoring scenario cannot be described from the available data; typical use would involve polling per-VLAN or per-port IGMP snooping enable status and multicast group membership tables, but no specific object names can be verified for this module.
