What Is IBMCPU-MIB?
This is an IBM-proprietary MIB for monitoring processor load on IBM networking devices, part of the older NetView 6000 subagent framework (nv6sa* naming), likely used with the IBM 6611 multiprotocol router. It centers on overall computer-system load plus a per-processor load table. It is explicitly a performance-monitoring MIB: it lets an operator track CPU/processor utilization to identify an overloaded router or device before performance degrades. Given the nv6saComputerSystem and netView6000SubAgent naming, it depends on IBM's NetView 6000 subagent framework rather than a standard MIB like HOST-RESOURCES-MIB. Monitoring Examples
An NMS polls nv6saComputerSystemLoad for an overall system load figure and, on multi-processor platforms, walks ibmMainProcessorLoadTable (keyed by ibmMainProcessorLoadIndex) to read ibmMainProcessorLoad per CPU. A sustained high ibmMainProcessorLoad value on one entry while others stay low would indicate an imbalanced load or a runaway process on that specific processor of the ibm6611 device.
