Description: Huawei VS (Virtual System) MIB for managing logical virtual system instances on multi-tenant security and routing devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-VS-MIB?
HUAWEI-VS-MIB is a Huawei proprietary MIB for managing Virtual System (VS) instances, a virtualization feature that partitions a single physical Huawei device (typically a security or routing platform) into multiple logically independent virtual systems, each with its own name and system ID. It exposes configuration objects for defining and identifying virtual system instances on the device. As a configuration/inventory MIB, it is primarily used to confirm which virtual systems are provisioned and their identifiers, supporting software-level status monitoring in multi-tenant deployments rather than physical hardware sensors. It has no notable dependency beyond Huawei's private enterprise MIB tree, since virtual systems are a Huawei-specific virtualization concept. It is typically deployed on Huawei multi-tenant firewalls, security gateways, or routers used by service providers or large enterprises to segregate customers or departments on shared hardware, and administrators can download the HUAWEI-VS-MIB file to load it directly into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-VS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei multi-tenant security gateways/firewalls, routers
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll the virtual system name and ID objects to enumerate all VS instances configured on a shared physical device and confirm expected tenants are present. A missing or unexpectedly absent virtual system entry compared to the provisioning record would indicate a configuration was not applied or was accidentally deleted. This MIB would typically be cross-referenced with per-VS resource or interface MIBs to check that each tenant's virtual system has correctly allocated resources.
What Can Be Monitored
- configured virtual system names
- virtual system IDs
- virtual system provisioning inventory
