Description: Huawei SLB (Server Load Balancing) MIB for managing virtual servers, real server pools, and load balancing policy statistics.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-SLB-MIB?
HUAWEI-SLB-MIB is a Huawei-proprietary module for managing Server Load Balancing functionality on Huawei network devices. It exposes virtual-server configuration, real-server pool membership, health-check state, and load-balancing policy statistics such as active connections and distributed traffic volume. Its most important monitoring function is process/service status: the health-check state of each real server (in or out of rotation) is effectively a service-availability indicator, complemented by connection and byte counters showing how traffic is distributed across the pool. It typically works alongside standard IP-MIB addressing objects to identify virtual and real server addresses. It is typically deployed on Huawei SLB-capable appliances or routers distributing client traffic across server farms in a data center. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-SLB-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-SLB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei load-balancing appliances/routers
- data center server-farm front-end devices
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll a real-server table (an hwSlbRealServerTable/hwSlbRealServerEntry pattern) for each backend's health-check status and current active-connection count, alongside a virtual-server table's aggregate traffic counters. A real server flipping to a failed health-check state confirms the load balancer has correctly pulled it out of rotation after an application crash. Comparing per-real-server connection counts also reveals an uneven traffic distribution that may indicate a misconfigured weighting policy.
What Can Be Monitored
- real-server health-check status
- virtual server configuration
- active connection counts
- traffic distribution across server pool
