Category: DSL and Broadband

Description: Manages HDSL 721T1 modem units, providing loop performance, alarm, and configuration objects for DSL access.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HDSL721T1-MIB?

The HDSL721T1-MIB is a vendor MIB for GDC (General DataComm) 721T1 HDSL modem units used in DSL access networks, extending the system tree with hdsl721T1System objects. It exposes alarm and status data for the T1/HDSL circuit, including power-up conditions, no-response conditions, and diagnostic receive-error alarms. It is used chiefly to monitor the hardware health of the modem and loop — power-up alarms, unresponsive far-end units, and diagnostic error conditions that indicate a failing or restarting device — rather than throughput counters. As a proprietary line-card MIB it complements standard interface/DS1 MIBs rather than replacing them. It is typically deployed in telco or enterprise WAN environments running HDSL/T1 access lines terminated on GDC 721T1 modem hardware, polled via SNMP for line-integrity issues, with technicians often starting with an HDSL721T1-MIB download to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HDSL721T1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • GDC 721T1 HDSL modem
  • DSL/T1 access equipment

Monitoring Examples

An admin polling hdsl721T1NoResponseAlm can detect when the far-end HDSL unit stops responding, indicating a line fault or power loss at the remote site. hdsl721T1PowerUpAlm flags recent unit reboots, useful for correlating outages with power events, while hdsl721T1DiagRxErrAlm surfaces receive-side line errors during diagnostics. hdsl721T1Version reports the deployed firmware/hardware revision for inventory tracking.

What Can Be Monitored

  • no-response alarm status
  • power-up alarm events
  • diagnostic receive error alarm
  • system version/firmware
  • loop alarm conditions
