What Is ALPINE-ROOT?
ALPINE-ROOT is a JDSU/Alpine Photonics root MIB establishing the top-level enterprise OID registration tree for Alpine's optical amplifier product lines. As a pure root/registration MIB it defines the branch structure under which Alpine's actual optical amplifier management MIBs register their objects, and it does not itself expose any tables, counters, or sensor data. It therefore has no direct role in hardware/software status monitoring itself; true ALPINE-ROOT SNMP monitoring of optical power levels, pump laser status, or temperature is instead performed via child MIBs registered beneath this root. Every Alpine Photonics product-specific MIB depends on this root MIB for its OID namespace assignment. It is typically present as the structural foundation MIB alongside other Alpine/JDSU optical amplifier MIBs in DWDM/optical transport network deployments.
