Description: Huawei MPLS OAM protection switching MIB for managing LSP protection groups and switchover events.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-MPLSOAM-PS-MIB?

HUAWEI-MPLSOAM-PS-MIB is a Huawei MIB for MPLS OAM-based protection switching, managing protection groups that pair a working LSP with a backup LSP to provide fast failover for MPLS services. It exposes configuration data for protection group setup and status data indicating which path (working or protection) is currently carrying traffic. Its monitoring value is network-path software status: tracking the currently active path and the history of switchover events lets an administrator confirm when traffic failed over due to a fault and whether it reverted once the primary path recovered. It builds on general MPLS OAM concepts described in the module (used to lower network maintenance cost) and complements Huawei's broader MPLS-TP/MPLS OAM MIB family. It is deployed on carrier MPLS/MPLS-TP transport devices that require fast, often sub-50ms, protection switching for critical services, and the HUAWEI-MPLSOAM-PS-MIB MIB defines the protection-group and switchover objects used to track these failovers.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-MPLSOAM-PS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei carrier transport/MPLS routers
  • Huawei PTN devices

Monitoring Examples

No sample object names were provided for this module. Based on the module description, an administrator would monitor the protection group's active-path indicator and switchover event/trap objects to detect when traffic switched from the working LSP to its protection LSP because of a fault, and to confirm reversion to the primary path once it is restored.

What Can Be Monitored

  • protection group active path
  • working/protection LSP status
  • switchover event history
  • switchover triggers/traps
