Description: Huawei MPLS label management MIB for monitoring label space usage, allocation, and label-switching path statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-MPLS-LABEL-MIB?

HUAWEI-MPLS-LABEL-MIB is a Huawei proprietary MIB for configuring and monitoring MPLS label space parameters on Huawei routers and switches that run MPLS. It exposes objects for the configurable range of MPLS label values in use and the MPLS default time-to-live (TTL), which governs how MPLS-labeled packets are forwarded and how loops are prevented. As a configuration MIB, it primarily supports software/service-configuration monitoring, letting an administrator confirm the label range and TTL settings match the intended network design rather than exposing hardware sensors. Anomalies visible through this MIB, such as an unexpectedly narrow label range, could indicate exhaustion risk for label-switched paths on a busy MPLS core router. It depends conceptually on the standard MPLS architecture (RFC 3031/3032) though it is not a direct extension of an IETF MPLS MIB. It is typically deployed on Huawei provider or provider-edge routers forming the core of an MPLS-based service provider network. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-MPLS-LABEL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-MPLS-LABEL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei MPLS-capable routers and switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll the MPLS label range objects to confirm the configured minimum and maximum label values, and check the default TTL object to ensure it matches the value expected for the MPLS domain's loop-prevention policy. If the available label range is nearly exhausted relative to the number of active label-switched paths, this would signal a need to expand the range before new LSPs fail to establish. Because this MIB is tightly scoped to label-space and TTL configuration, it would typically be polled alongside standard MPLS LSP and interface MIBs to get full picture of forwarding health.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured MPLS label range
  • MPLS default TTL setting
  • label space utilization risk
