Description: Huawei FTP MIB providing objects to configure FTP server settings, manage file transfers, and monitor FTP session activity on Huawei devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HUAWEI-FTP-MIB?
HUAWEI-FTP-MIB is a Huawei-proprietary MIB for managing the FTP server and FTP client functionality built into Huawei network devices, per its module description ('V1.00 ... manages the FTP server and FTP client configuration'). It exposes configuration objects for FTP server settings (such as enabling the server, timeout, and access parameters) and objects for tracking FTP client-initiated file transfers, along with session activity. Its monitoring value covers software service status on the device: whether the FTP server is enabled and reachable, and the state/progress of ongoing file transfers (e.g. firmware or configuration file uploads/downloads), which is useful for confirming successful software upgrades or configuration backups performed via FTP. It is a self-contained service MIB with no strong dependency on other MIBs beyond the device's base system MIB. It is deployed on Huawei routers and switches wherever FTP is used for firmware upgrade, configuration backup/restore, or log retrieval, and administrators can download the HUAWEI-FTP-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-FTP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Huawei router or switch
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll FTP server enable status and an active-session table (patterned as hwFtpSessionTable, though not confirmed from source) to confirm an FTP-based firmware upload completed successfully, watching for a session stuck in a transferring state or an unexpected authentication failure as a sign of a failed upgrade attempt. No sample_objects were provided for this module, so specific object names are inferred rather than confirmed from source.
What Can Be Monitored
- FTP server enable/status
- active FTP session state
- file transfer progress
- FTP client transfer status
