Category: Domain: DSL, Vendor: Huawei

Description: Huawei broadband test MIB providing objects to initiate and monitor diagnostic tests on subscriber DSL lines and broadband access interfaces.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-BTEST-MIB?

HUAWEI-BTEST-MIB is a Huawei enterprise MIB (under huaweiUtility, hwTest) that models the Broadband Test Subsystem (BTSS) used to run diagnostic tests on subscriber DSL lines and broadband access ports, such as central-office (CO) emulation tests, CQT transparent-command tests, and Single-Ended Line Test (SELT) for ADSL2+. It exposes per-port test control and results through tables like hwBTSSCoTestTable (start/stop CO emulation, pass/fail result), hwBTSSTestedPortOperTable (capture/release/monitor operations on a tested port), and hwBTSSAdslSeltTestTable, which returns detailed SELT physical-layer measurements (loop length, loop termination state, loop gauge, Shannon capacity, echo response, inband noise) indexed by ifIndex. This lets an operator remotely diagnose DSL line quality and connectivity issues (e.g., estimating loop length or detecting an open/shorted line) without a truck roll. It depends on HUAWEI-DEVICE-MIB for frame/slot indexing and HUAWEI-COMMTEST-MIB for the shared hwTestGroupNo index used by auxiliary test ports. It is deployed on Huawei broadband access platforms (DSLAMs/MSANs) supporting xDSL line testing, and engineers can download the HUAWEI-BTEST-MIB file to add DSL diagnostics to their monitoring toolchain.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-BTEST-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei broadband access platforms (DSLAM/MSAN) supporting xDSL line diagnostics

Monitoring Examples

An operator sets hwBTSSAdslSeltTestOperType to start(2) on a subscriber's ifIndex and then polls hwBTSSAdslSeltTestOperResult and hwBTSSAdslSeltTestParamLoopTermin; a result of fail(2) or a loop termination state of short(1) or open(0) would indicate a physical fault on the copper pair before a technician is dispatched.

What Can Be Monitored

  • CO emulation test start/stop and result
  • tested-port capture/release/monitor operations
  • SELT test operation status and result
  • loop length, termination state, and gauge measurements
  • upstream/downstream Shannon capacity and margin-vs-rate data
  • CQT transparent-command test results
