Description: Provides version 2 traffic range management objects with extended matching criteria on HP/Comware devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPN-ICF-TRNG2-MIB?

HPN-ICF-TRNG2-MIB is the second-generation time-range MIB for HP/H3C Comware devices, used to define absolute and periodic time windows that other features—most commonly ACLs and QoS policies—reference to apply rules only during specified periods. It exposes a creation table for named time ranges plus a table of absolute start/end date-time entries associated with each named range, along with a validity flag indicating whether the range is currently in effect. Rather than hardware or performance telemetry, its monitoring value is configuration/state visibility: confirming whether a scheduled ACL or policy is presently active (hpnicfTrangeValidFlag) and auditing the defined absolute windows for correctness. It is used in conjunction with ACL and QoS MIBs, since a time range only takes effect once bound to a filtering or policy rule elsewhere in the configuration. Typical deployment of the HPN-ICF-TRNG2-MIB MIB is in enterprise networks where access policies must change on a schedule, such as restricting guest network access to business hours.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-TRNG2-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP/H3C Comware switches and routers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator reads hpnicfTrangeCreateTimerangeTable (keyed by hpnicfTrangeIndex/hpnicfTrangeName) to enumerate all named time ranges and hpnicfTrangeValidFlag to see which are currently active. hpnicfTrangeAbsoluteTable, indexed by hpnicfTrangeAbsoluteNameIndex and hpnicfTrangeAbsoluteSubIndex, is polled to verify the configured hpnicfTrangeAbsoluteStartTime and hpnicfTrangeAbsoluteEndTime match the intended schedule, catching a case where an ACL unexpectedly stayed active outside its intended window.

What Can Be Monitored

  • defined time-range names
  • time-range validity/active state
  • absolute start and end times per range
  • row status of time-range entries
