Description: Provides management objects for T1 WAN interfaces including framing, line code, and performance counters on HP/Comware.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPN-ICF-T1-MIB?

HPN-ICF-T1-MIB is an HP Networking/H3C Comware ICF (Integrated Communication Facility) enterprise MIB that manages T1 WAN interfaces, providing information not covered by the standard RFC 1213/RFC 2233 interface MIBs. It exposes T1-specific configuration such as framing and line-code settings, along with a status table reporting operational state per T1 interface. Its main value is performance/fault monitoring: a rich set of error counters — CRC, framing, alignment, overrun, runt, giant, aborted-sequence, and no-buffer errors — let an operator gauge WAN link quality and detect a degrading or misconfigured T1 circuit. It is a vendor extension meant to be used alongside the standard IF-MIB/RFC1213-MIB for basic interface counters, adding T1-layer detail on top. It is deployed on HP/H3C Comware-based routers and switches carrying T1 leased-line WAN circuits. Engineers can download the HPN-ICF-T1-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-T1-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP/H3C Comware routers and switches with T1 WAN interfaces

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll hpnicft1InterfaceStatusTable/hpnicft1InterfaceStatusEntry per T1 circuit to check operational status, and watch hpnicft1InterfaceInCrcErrs and hpnicft1InterfaceInFramingErrs for signs of line degradation or clocking mismatches. A spike in hpnicft1InterfaceInOverRunsErrs or hpnicft1InterfaceInNoBufferErrs would point to buffer exhaustion under high traffic, while rising hpnicft1InterfaceInAlignErrs suggests a framing/line-code mismatch with the far-end device.

What Can Be Monitored

  • T1 interface operational status
  • CRC errors
  • framing/alignment errors
  • overrun/no-buffer errors
  • runt/giant frame errors

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using hpnicft1InterfaceInErrs OID:

Select an HP/H3C Comware router or switch with T1 WAN interface as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hpnicft1InterfaceInErrs into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. The total number of error received on this interface. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases between polls, since a rising count of errors, failures, or discards often points to a real underlying problem. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
