Category: Domain: Security, SNMP Framework, Vendor: H3C/HH3C, Vendor: HP/HPE

Description: Provides HP/Comware-specific SNMP extensions for community, view, and trap target management.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPN-ICF-SNMP-EXT-MIB?

HPN-ICF-SNMP-EXT-MIB is an H3C/HPE Networking (ICF) proprietary MIB extending SNMP agent configuration with community/context management beyond the standard framework. Its objects cover SNMP-channel selection, single read/write community shortcuts, max context count, a community table (security level/name, community name, ACL number), an extended community table (name, write flag, view name, ACL number, row status), and a context table (name, row status). As a configuration/security MIB it lets an administrator confirm which SNMP communities/contexts and their associated ACLs and view restrictions are configured. It is deployed on H3C/HPE Networking (ICF-based) routers/switches. Engineers can download the HPN-ICF-SNMP-EXT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-SNMP-EXT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C/HPE Networking (ICF-based) routers/switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks hpnicfSnmpCommunityExAclNum and hpnicfSnmpCommunityExViewName to confirm an SNMP community's access restrictions on an H3C/HPE ICF device.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SNMP community/context configuration and ACL restrictions
