What Is HPN-ICF-DOT11-SA-MIB?

HPN-ICF-DOT11-SA-MIB is an HPE/H3C Comware ICF private MIB that provides spectrum analysis (SA) information for access points in a wireless LAN, examining the RF environment to identify and classify interference sources. It exposes a per-radio configuration table (hpnicfDot11SaCfgTable/Entry with hpnicfDot11SaCfgRadioType), enable/report scalars (hpnicfDot11SaEnable, RptDevType), trap controls for detected interfering devices and air-quality issues (TrapDevEnable/Type, TrapAQEnable/Threshold), and a raw FFT data table (hpnicfDot11SaRtFFTDataTable) for detailed spectral analysis. Its monitoring focus is RF/software-driven fault detection: surfacing air-quality degradation and interfering-device detections that explain wireless performance problems, and it can drive Radio Resource Management (hpnicfDot11SaDrivenRRMEnable) to automatically react to interference. It is a companion to HPE's RRM MIB and depends on the underlying 802.11 PHY/RF framework of the AC-AP architecture. It is deployed on HPE/H3C Comware WLAN Access Controllers and their managed access points. Engineers can download the HPN-ICF-DOT11-SA-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPN-ICF-DOT11-SA-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HPE/H3C Comware WLAN Access Controllers
  • HPE/H3C access points (Fit AP)

Monitoring Examples

An administrator enables hpnicfDot11SaEnable per radio via hpnicfDot11SaCfgTable and watches hpnicfDot11SaTrapAQThreshold-triggered air-quality traps to detect RF degradation on a channel. When hpnicfDot11SaTrapDevEnable is set, a detected non-Wi-Fi interferer raises a trap identifying hpnicfDot11SaTrapDevType, and hpnicfDot11SaRtFFTDataTable can be pulled for detailed spectral data confirming the interference signature. If hpnicfDot11SaDrivenRRMEnable is on, a poor air-quality reading is also expected to trigger an automatic RRM channel change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • spectrum analysis enable state per radio
  • air-quality trap threshold/status
  • interfering-device detection and type
  • raw FFT spectral data
  • RRM-driven response to interference
