Category: Quality of Service, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: H3C MIB for Automatic Flow Control (AFC) managing traffic shaping and congestion avoidance on interfaces.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-AFC-MIB?

H3C-AFC-MIB is an H3C (Huawei-3Com) private-enterprise MIB for the Abnormal Flow Clean (AFC) subsystem, an anti-DDoS traffic-cleaning feature on H3C switches/routers. It exposes security/traffic-anomaly data: the target IP under attack, the detected attack type, the mitigation policy applied, and the configured detection threshold and observed attack traffic speed. Its monitoring value is primarily fault/security-event visibility rather than classic hardware health: it lets an operator see, via traps and objects, when an attack is in progress and whether the automatic mitigation policy triggered correctly. It is a self-contained H3C private-enterprise MIB with no explicit dependency on standard IETF MIBs beyond generic SNMP notification conventions. Deployment context is H3C switches/routers functioning as anti-DDoS/traffic-cleaning appliances at the network edge or data-center perimeter. Engineers can download the H3C-AFC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-AFC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C switch/router with Anti-DDoS Flow Clean (AFC) module
  • H3C (HPE) switches and routers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polls h3cDDosAttackTargetIP and h3cDDosAttackType to identify which host is under attack and what attack signature matched, then checks h3cDDosAttackThreshold against h3cDDosAttackSpeed to see whether observed traffic exceeded the configured limit. h3cAFCNotify traps, carrying h3cAFCNotifyPrefix context, alert the operator in near real time when the AFC engine automatically applies the h3cDDosAttackPolicy to clean the abnormal flow.

What Can Be Monitored

  • DDoS attack target IP
  • attack type detected
  • mitigation policy applied
  • attack detection threshold
  • attack traffic speed
  • AFC trap notifications
