Description: HP ICF SNMP MIB for network destination and network service object definitions used in policy-based routing on HP ProCurve switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HPICF-NETDESTNETSERVICE-MIB?

HPICF-NETDESTNETSERVICE-MIB is an HP proprietary SNMP module for HP ProCurve switches that defines network destination and network service objects used in policy-based routing and access-control features. It exposes configuration data for named network destinations (address/mask groupings) and their component address entries, which other HP ICF policy features reference by name rather than raw addresses. Its relevance to monitoring is as a configuration-integrity check, letting an administrator confirm that a named destination group's row status is active and its member addresses match what policy rules expect, reflecting the software/policy configuration state of the switch. It is a supporting/building-block MIB, implicitly depended upon by other HP ICF policy or filtering MIBs (such as user-profile or ACL features) that reference these named destinations. It is typically deployed in enterprise networks using HP ProCurve policy-based features where administrators define reusable named address groups for filtering or routing rules. Engineers can download the HPICF-NETDESTNETSERVICE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HPICF-NETDESTNETSERVICE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • HP ProCurve switch

Monitoring Examples

The module exposes hpicfNetDestMasterTable/Entry keyed by name (hpicfNetDestName) with hpicfNetDestType and hpicfNetDestMasterRowStatus, along with a subordinate hpicfNetDestTable/Entry holding the actual hpicfNetDestAddrType, hpicfNetDestAddr, and hpicfNetDestMask entries indexed by hpicfNetDestPos. An administrator would poll hpicfNetDestMasterRowStatus to confirm a named destination group is active, then check the member address table to verify its addresses match the intended policy definition, since an address drifting from expectation would silently change the effect of any policy rule referencing that destination name. hpicfNetDestNetServConformance and hpicfNetDestNetServiceMIBGroups define the standard conformance statements for the module.
