Description: Hirschmann ring architecture management SNMP MIB for advanced ring topology and redundancy manager configuration.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HMRINGARC-MGMT-SNMP-MIB?
HMRINGARC-MGMT-SNMP-MIB is a vendor MIB from Hirschmann (a Belden brand of industrial Ethernet switches) for managing its Private Automatic Ring Configuration (ARC) redundancy feature. It exposes configuration of the ring manager, including admin status, redundancy protocol, primary/redundant group and interface indices, and VLAN ID, along with operational status and the results of automatic ring integrity checks. The MIB is centered on monitoring the software status of the ring redundancy mechanism: whether the manager is enabled, which protocol and ports are active, and whether ring checks pass, which indicates whether failover would actually work if a link broke. It is a Hirschmann proprietary enterprise MIB built on standard SNMPv2-SMI rather than a shared industry ring-protocol standard. Deployment context is industrial/automation Ethernet networks using ring topologies for cabling redundancy, where operators monitor ARC status to ensure resilience against link failures. Engineers can download the HMRINGARC-MGMT-SNMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HMRINGARC-MGMT-SNMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Hirschmann industrial Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls hmArcManagerAdminStatus and hmArcManagerRedProtocol to confirm the ring manager is enabled and running the expected redundancy protocol on the configured hmArcManagerPrimIfIndex/hmArcManagerRedIfIndex ports. Rows in hmArcCheckResultTable, keyed by hmArcCheckStatusIndex, reveal whether a scheduled ring integrity check passed or failed, so a failing entry flags a broken redundant path before an actual link outage occurs.
What Can Be Monitored
- ring manager admin status
- redundancy protocol in use
- primary/redundant group and interface
- VLAN ID for ring
- ring check pass/fail status
