Description: Hirschmann tracking SNMP MIB for interface and connectivity tracking used in redundancy and failover scenarios.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HMTRACKING-SNMP-MIB?

HMTRACKING-SNMP-MIB is a Hirschmann Automation and Control proprietary MIB implementing object tracking (e.g., interface link state or ICMP ping reachability, similar in concept to Cisco's IP SLA tracking) on Hirschmann industrial switches/routers. Its tracking table, keyed by ID, records type, state, number of state changes, time since last change, and, for interface-based tracking, link-up/down delay, or for ping-based tracking, target IP, interval, miss/success counts, timeout, TTL, and best-route interface, plus a logical-operator setting and a state-change-trap-send flag, alongside an application table and logical-instance table for combining multiple tracked objects. As a configuration/status MIB it lets an administrator confirm a tracked object's current state and recent change history, commonly used to drive automatic failover decisions. It is deployed on Hirschmann Automation and Control industrial network equipment. Engineers can download the HMTRACKING-SNMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HMTRACKING-SNMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Hirschmann Automation and Control industrial network equipment

Monitoring Examples

An administrator checks hmTrackPingSuccess against hmTrackPingMiss for a tracked uplink to confirm reachability tracking is correctly detecting a degraded path before an automatic failover would trigger.

What Can Be Monitored

  • tracked object (link/ping) state and change history
