Description: Hirschmann HiOS (HM2) loopback MIB for configuring loopback interfaces and loop detection mechanisms.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HM2-PLATFORM-LOOPBACK-MIB?

HM2-PLATFORM-LOOPBACK-MIB is a Hirschmann private HiOS Platform2 MIB for configuring loopback interfaces on Hirschmann managed switches. It defines a loopback table carrying an identifier, the associated ifIndex, IP address and subnet, and a row status, so it is primarily configuration data rather than performance counters. Its monitoring value lies in confirming software provisioning status - checking that a loopback interface is correctly configured, addressed, and in the active state so routing protocols relying on a stable address keep working. It complements IF-MIB, since each loopback entry links back to a standard ifIndex. It is used on Hirschmann industrial switches (rail, energy, automation networks) that need a stable loopback address for routing protocol peering or management. Engineers can download the HM2-PLATFORM-LOOPBACK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HM2-PLATFORM-LOOPBACK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Hirschmann industrial Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

hm2AgentLoopbackTable/Entry rows, keyed by hm2AgentLoopbackID, carry hm2AgentLoopbackIfIndex linking to IF-MIB along with the assigned hm2AgentLoopbackIPAddress and hm2AgentLoopbackIPSubnet. An administrator polls hm2AgentLoopbackStatus to confirm the row is active; an unexpected notInService or destroy value flags a loopback misconfiguration that could disrupt routing protocol reachability relying on that address.

What Can Be Monitored

  • configured loopback interfaces
  • loopback IP address
  • loopback subnet mask
  • loopback interface status
  • associated physical/logical ifIndex
