Description: Manages NTP server synchronization settings on Hillstone Networks firewalls.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HILLSTONE-NTP-MIB?
HILLSTONE-NTP-MIB is a Hillstone Networks proprietary MIB for configuring Network Time Protocol (NTP) server synchronization on Hillstone security appliances (firewalls/UTM devices). It exposes configuration data for one or more NTP server entries that the device uses to keep its system clock accurate. Its monitoring value is software/configuration status — confirming which NTP servers are configured (hillstoneNTPServConfTable) and by extension whether the device's clock source is properly set, which matters because accurate time is essential for correct log timestamps, certificate validation, and correlating security events. It builds directly on the standard NTP protocol though it is Hillstone's own private MIB representation rather than the IETF NTP MIB. It is deployed on Hillstone firewalls and security gateways in enterprise or service-provider networks, where HILLSTONE-NTP-MIB SNMP monitoring helps ensure synchronized time across devices for accurate security event correlation.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HILLSTONE-NTP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Hillstone Networks firewalls/security gateways
Monitoring Examples
An administrator would poll hillstoneNTPServConfTable to confirm the configured NTP server addresses match the organization's approved time sources. If a configured NTP server entry is missing or unreachable, the firewall's clock could drift, causing log timestamps to become misaligned with other network devices. Regularly checking this table helps ensure time-based security policies and certificate validity checks remain accurate.
What Can Be Monitored
- configured NTP server addresses
- NTP synchronization configuration status
