Category: Technology: Bridging, VLAN and Bridging, Vendor: H3C/HH3C

Description: An HH3C MIB covering Shortest Path Bridging (SPB/802.1aq) configuration and topology state on H3C switches.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-SPB-MIB?

HH3C-SPB-MIB is an H3C (Hangzhou H3C Technologies) enterprise MIB, registered under hh3cCommon, that manages Shortest Path Bridging MAC mode (SPBM, IEEE 802.1aq) on H3C switches. It exposes global enable/disable status for SPBM (hh3cSpbSysStatus) and SPBM multicast B-VLAN (hh3cSpbMulticastBVlanStatus), a per-interface enable table (hh3cSpbIfTable, indexed by ifIndex), and a service table (hh3cSpbSrvTable) that maps ISID service identifiers to a Base VLAN ID and a head-end/tandem multicast replication mode, indexed by topology instance and ISID. It also defines two notifications, hh3cSpbSPSourceConflictTrap and hh3cSpbBMacConflictTrap, fired when a Shortest Path Source ID or backbone MAC collides with another bridge in the SPB domain. This is a control-plane/topology MIB rather than a traffic-counter MIB, so it depends on the IEEE8021-SPB-MIB for SPSourceID typing and Q-BRIDGE-MIB for VLAN identifiers, and it's deployed on H3C switches in an 802.1aq shortest-path-bridged core, making HH3C-SPB-MIB SNMP monitoring useful for catching SPB topology conflicts early.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-SPB-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C Ethernet switches supporting Shortest Path Bridging (802.1aq)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls hh3cSpbIfStatus per ifIndex to confirm SPBM is enabled on all core-facing ports and checks hh3cSpbSrvTableEntryBaseVid for each ISID in hh3cSpbSrvTable; receipt of a hh3cSpbBMacConflictTrap indicates two bridges are advertising the same backbone MAC, which would break shortest-path forwarding until resolved.

What Can Be Monitored

  • SPBM global/interface enable status
  • multicast B-VLAN status
  • ISID-to-Base-VLAN service mappings
  • multicast replication mode (head-end/tandem)
  • SPSourceID conflict notifications
  • backbone MAC conflict notifications
