Description: HH3C MIB for N-Port Virtualization (NPV) in Fibre Channel SANs, managing NPV mode on H3C storage switches.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HH3C-NPV-MIB?
HH3C-NPV-MIB is an H3C proprietary MIB for N_Port Virtualization (NPV), a Fibre Channel SAN feature that lets an edge switch pass traffic to an NPV core switch without consuming its own FC domain ID. It exposes configuration and operational data about NPV-enabled server-facing ports, VSAN traffic-mapping, and load-balancing policy across external (uplink) interfaces. Monitoring this MIB reveals the software/configuration status of the NPV feature — whether a server interface's traffic map is correctly bound to external interfaces (hh3cNpvTrafficMapExternalIfIndexList), when that mapping last changed (hh3cNpvTrafficMapLastChange), and each entry's row status — which is critical for diagnosing SAN connectivity or failover problems rather than general hardware health. It builds on standard Fibre Channel/SAN concepts (VSANs, domain IDs) and typically coexists with FC-specific MIBs on multi-protocol H3C switches. It is deployed in storage-area networks where H3C FC switches operate in NPV edge mode beneath a core Fibre Channel director. Engineers can download the HH3C-NPV-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-NPV-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C Fibre Channel/SAN switches (NPV edge mode)
Monitoring Examples
An administrator could poll hh3cNpvTrafficMapConfigTable/hh3cNpvTrafficMapConfigEntry to see how server-facing ports (hh3cNpvServerIfTable) are load-balanced across external uplinks via hh3cNpvLoadbalanceVsan, and check hh3cNpvTrafficMapRowStatus to confirm each mapping entry is active. A sudden change reflected in hh3cNpvTrafficMapLastChange combined with a server interface losing its external interface list would indicate an uplink failure or reconfiguration event. This lets SAN operators detect NPV traffic-mapping problems before they cause storage path outages.
What Can Be Monitored
- NPV traffic map configuration
- server-facing to external interface mapping
- VSAN load-balancing assignment
- traffic map last-change timestamp
- traffic map row status
