What Is HH3C-LBV2-MIB?

HH3C-LBV2-MIB is an H3C proprietary module for managing enhanced Server Load Balancing Version 2 features on H3C network devices, including persistence, SSL offload, and server-farm actions. It exposes configuration data for load-balancing 'actions' (default/backup/in-use server farms) and virtual servers, along with connection-limit settings and trap-enable controls. From a monitoring standpoint it lets an operator watch service/software status rather than physical hardware, specifically which server farm is actively in use for a given action and whether a virtual server has hit its configured connection limit, plus trap notifications for load-balancing state changes. It is a vendor-specific extension layered on top of H3C's general device and interface MIBs rather than an IETF standard. It is typically deployed on H3C switches/appliances performing Layer 4-7 load balancing in front of server farms. An operator would poll hh3cLBv2ActionTable's hh3cLBv2ActionInUseSF against hh3cLBv2ActionDefaultSF to detect that traffic has failed over from the default server farm to the backup, and check hh3cLBv2VSTable's hh3cLBv2VSConnectionsLimit against current usage to see whether a virtual server (hh3cLBv2VSName) is approaching its connection cap. Enabling hh3cLBv2TrapEnable ensures the device sends a notification the moment such a failover or row-status change occurs via hh3cLBv2ActionRowStatus.

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using hh3cLBv2VSStatTotalConnections OID:

Select an H3C switch/load-balancing appliance (server load balancing v2, SSL offload) as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hh3cLBv2VSStatTotalConnections into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. It reports the total number of connections that the virtual server received. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter64-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
