Description: Manages ISDN BRI/PRI interface configuration and call statistics on H3C voice and WAN gateway modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HH3C-ISDN-MIB?

HH3C-ISDN-MIB is a vendor-specific module from H3C (Hangzhou Huawei-3Com/New H3C) covering ISDN BRI and PRI interfaces on H3C voice gateways and WAN routers. It exposes configuration data for ISDN interface parameters (switch type, channel allocation, D-channel signaling) alongside operational call statistics for the B-channels carried on those interfaces. It is used to monitor the hardware and software status of ISDN line cards and trunks, such as channel state (active/idle/failed), call setup/teardown activity, and interface availability, which together indicate whether a digital telephony or backup WAN link is healthy. It is layered on top of standard interface indexing from IF-MIB and typically complements IETF DS1/DS3 and ISDN-related MIBs (e.g., RFC 2127) rather than replacing them. Typical deployment is on H3C multiservice routers and voice gateway modules that terminate ISDN BRI/PRI circuits from a telco for legacy telephony trunks or ISDN-based backup connectivity. Engineers can download the HH3C-ISDN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-ISDN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C voice gateway
  • H3C WAN router with ISDN interface

Monitoring Examples

The source excerpt provided contains no sample object names, so specific OIDs cannot be cited here; conceptually an administrator would poll per-interface ISDN channel status (indexed by ifIndex) and active call counters to confirm all B-channels on a PRI trunk are in service. A channel repeatedly reported as failed or a call-attempt counter that never increments would flag a D-channel signaling fault or a physical line problem needing carrier escalation.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ISDN channel operational state
  • active call count
  • B-channel/D-channel status
  • call setup failures

How to Use in IPNetwork Monitor

Example using hh3cChanbIsdnCallAccept OID:

Select an H3C voice gateway/WAN router with ISDN BRI/PRI interface as the target host to create a monitor — the SNMP service should be up and running on it. Click New Monitor, then check SNMP Custom on the Favorites tab, click Next, and confirm the host. On the next page, click Select... to open the built-in SNMP MIB Browser and type hh3cChanbIsdnCallAccept into the Find box to locate it in the OID tree, selecting the specific row/instance you want to monitor since this is a table column, then select it and click OK. This object is used to describe the accepted call number from the B channels. On the monitor's Main parameters page you can set the target's SNMP port (default 161), credentials, polling interval, and other settings — see the SNMP Monitor help for details. On the State conditions and Alerting tabs, configure when the monitor should change state and trigger an alert; since this is a Counter32-type OID, Value bounds is the most useful condition here — trigger an alert if the counter increases sharply between polls relative to its normal baseline, since an unexpected spike often reflects a real change in traffic or activity. Click Finish to create the monitor; you can adjust any parameter later.
