Description: H3C MIB for IRF (Intelligent Resilient Framework) stack management including member roles, ports, and topology.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-STACK-MIB?

H3C-STACK-MIB manages STM (Stack Topology Management) for H3C's IRF (Intelligent Resilient Framework), the technology that virtualizes multiple physical H3C switches into a single logical device. It exposes stack-wide configuration such as the maximum number of members, current member count, maximum configurable priority, auto-update and MAC-persistence behavior, link-delay interval, overall topology, and a per-member device configuration table tracking member IDs and priorities. Its central monitoring role is hardware/topology status: confirming the actual h3cStackMemberNum matches the expected number of chassis in the fabric, verifying each member's role/priority is as configured, and watching h3cStackTrap notifications for member join/leave or topology-change events that indicate a chassis has failed or a stack link has gone down. The MIB explicitly notes it is applicable to IRF-capable products and that some objects may be platform-specific, so exact behavior should be confirmed against vendor documentation. It is deployed in H3C switches and routers configured as IRF stacks for high availability and simplified management. Engineers can download the H3C-STACK-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-STACK-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C IRF-capable switches and routers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll h3cStackMemberNum against h3cStackMaxMember to confirm all expected chassis are present in the IRF fabric, and walk h3cStackDeviceConfigTable (h3cStackDeviceConfigEntry) keyed by h3cStackMemberID to check each member's h3cStackConfigMemberID and h3cStackPriority assignments, which determine master-election behavior. h3cStackTopology reveals whether the stack is in a ring or chain topology, important for assessing resilience to a single link failure, while h3cStackLinkDelayInterval and h3cStackMacPersistence relate to failover timing behavior. A h3cStackTrap notification carrying h3cStackTrapOjbects data would alert the operator in real time to a member leaving or rejoining the stack.

What Can Be Monitored

  • stack member count vs. maximum
  • per-member priority and role
  • stack topology (ring/chain)
  • member join/leave trap events
  • auto-update and MAC-persistence settings
