Description: H3C MIB for Redundant Device Discovery and Communication (RDDC) managing device redundancy and active/standby roles.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-RDDC-MIB?

H3C-RDDC-MIB manages Redundancy Group (RDDC) functionality within H3C's IRF (Intelligent Resilient Framework) stacking technology, ensuring minimal data/control-plane disruption if a node in an IRF fabric fails over to a backup. It exposes group-level tables tracking preemption and hold timers (remaining vs. configured) plus a node table identifying each member's group and node ID, with notifications for redundancy state changes. This is fundamentally a hardware/software resiliency and failover-status MIB — it tells operators whether an IRF redundancy group is stable or a preemption/failover event is in progress, critical for high-availability monitoring of stacked chassis. It's closely tied to H3C's IRF stacking architecture, so it depends on that vendor-specific clustering framework rather than a generic IETF standard. It's deployed on H3C IRF-stacked switches/routers where multiple physical chassis operate as one logical redundant system. Engineers can download the H3C-RDDC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-RDDC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C IRF-stacked switches
  • H3C IRF-stacked routers

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll h3cRddcTable/h3cRddcEntry for a given h3cRddcGroupIdx to check h3cRddcPreempTimeRemain against h3cRddcPreempTimeConfig, revealing whether a preemption countdown is currently active (indicating a former primary node is about to reclaim its role). Checking h3cRddcHoldTimeRemain shows whether the group is in a hold-down period after a failover. Cross-referencing h3cRddcNodeTable/h3cRddcNodeEntry by h3cRddcNodeGroupIdx and h3cRddcNodeId confirms which physical node currently holds each role, and h3cRddcNotifications would alert the NOC the moment a failover occurs.

What Can Be Monitored

  • redundancy group preemption timer
  • redundancy group hold timer
  • node group/role membership
  • redundancy failover notifications
