Description: H3C MIB for Multicast Policy Management (MPM) controlling multicast service policies and subscriber access.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is H3C-MPM-MIB?
H3C-MPM-MIB is an H3C (Huawei-3Com) proprietary MIB for Multicast Port Management (MPM), controlling and monitoring IGMP/IGMP-snooping multicast group membership and policy on a per-port, per-VLAN basis. The h3cMPortConfigTable configures per-port-per-VLAN multicast behavior — the maximum number of groups a port may join (h3cMPortGroupLimitNumber, bounded by h3cMPortGroupLimitMinNumber/MaxNumber), IGMP fast-leave status (h3cMPortFastLeaveStatus), an ACL-based group access policy (h3cMPortGroupPolicyParameter), and whether the switch replaces the lowest-address group when the limit is reached (h3cMPortGroupLimitReplace) — while h3cMPortGroupTable reports the actual multicast groups a port has currently joined in a given VLAN, and h3cMPortGroupJoinTable/h3cHostStaticJoinTable let an administrator statically configure a port or a specific host to join a multicast group regardless of IGMP signaling. Monitoring this MIB is useful for confirming multicast group membership matches expected subscriber behavior and that per-port group limits aren't silently dropping or replacing groups on oversubscribed ports. It depends on IF-MIB's ifIndex for port identification and the INET-ADDRESS-MIB textual conventions for multicast addresses, and is registered under the HUAWEI-3COM-OID-MIB enterprise tree. It is deployed on H3C/Huawei-3Com Ethernet switches providing IGMP snooping-based multicast services, and network teams provisioning multicast policy searching for the H3C-MPM-MIB download would use it to configure and audit per-port group membership and limits.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-MPM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C (Huawei-3Com) Ethernet switches with IGMP snooping / multicast port management
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls h3cMPortGroupTable for a given ifIndex/VLAN to see the currently joined multicast groups and compares the count against h3cMPortGroupLimitNumber in h3cMPortConfigTable; a group count sitting at the configured limit with h3cMPortGroupLimitReplace disabled would indicate new subscriber join requests on that port are being rejected.
What Can Be Monitored
- per-port/VLAN multicast group membership entries
- per-port group-limit configuration and min/max bounds
- IGMP fast-leave status per port
- ACL-based group access policy assignment
- static host-to-group join entries
- group-limit-replace policy state
