Description: H3C MIB for media server management on integrated access devices handling voice media processing resources.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-MS-MAN-MIB?

H3C-MS-MAN-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from H3C for managing Media Server (MS) components on integrated access devices that handle voice media processing, such as media forwarding and video-on-demand (VOD) resources. It exposes data on forwarding sessions, connection counts and thresholds, statistical periods, and VOD stream indexing, giving visibility into how the media-processing subsystem is performing under load. It is explicitly useful for monitoring the software/service health of the media server function, particularly current and historical connection counts against configured maximum-connection and connection-threshold limits, which surface capacity exhaustion before calls or streams start failing. As an H3C private MIB it has no dependency on standard telephony MIBs and is self-contained within the H3C enterprise tree. It is typically deployed on H3C voice/video gateway or integrated access devices in unified-communications or video-conferencing deployments where administrators need to track media-forwarding load in near real time. Engineers can download the H3C-MS-MAN-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-MS-MAN-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C integrated access devices
  • H3C voice/media gateways

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll h3cMSForwardTable/h3cMSForwardEntry, keyed by h3cMSForwardIndex, to compare h3cMSCurrentForwardConnection against h3cMSForwardMaxConnection and h3cMSForwardConnectionThreshold, flagging when current usage approaches the configured ceiling. Trending h3cMSPeriodForwardConnection alongside h3cMSStatisticalPeriod reveals whether call/stream volume is rising over time, while h3cMSForwardTotalTime and h3cMSForwardTotalConn give cumulative session-duration and count statistics for capacity planning. The h3cMSVODTable/h3cMSVODIndex objects let an admin separately track video-on-demand session load. A spike in current connections crossing the threshold would indicate the media server is nearing saturation and may soon reject new forwarding requests.

What Can Be Monitored

  • current forwarding connections
  • forwarding connection threshold
  • maximum connection capacity
  • total forwarding time and count
  • VOD session index
  • statistical period
