Description: H3C MIB for managing IPv4 address assignments on interfaces including primary and secondary address configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is H3C-IP-ADDRESS-MIB?

H3C-IP-ADDRESS-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from H3C (the Hewlett Packard Enterprise / Huawei-3Com networking lineage) that manages notifications for IPv4 address assignment changes on device interfaces. Rather than exposing broad configuration tables, it centers on a notification group that carries interface index and old/new address values whenever an interface's IP address is altered. Its primary monitoring value is software-status awareness: it lets administrators detect in real time when an interface's IP address configuration has changed, which can indicate misconfiguration, DHCP renumbering, or unauthorized network changes. It has a light dependency on the standard IF-MIB for interpreting the interface index referenced in its notifications. It is typically deployed on H3C/HPE Comware-based routers and switches where operations teams want proactive SNMP trap alerts for IP address change auditing and security compliance. Engineers can download the H3C-IP-ADDRESS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-IP-ADDRESS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • H3C/HPE Comware router
  • H3C/HPE Comware switch

Monitoring Examples

An admin would configure the SNMP manager to trap on h3cIpAddrNotify, which carries h3cIpAddrNotifyIfIndex, h3cIpAddrOldIpAddress, and h3cIpAddrNewIpAddress to pinpoint exactly which interface changed and what its address was before and after. A sudden flood of these traps on a normally-static interface (e.g., a WAN uplink) would indicate either an operator error, a rogue DHCP server, or a spoofing attempt. Because the MIB is notification-only, there are no polled tables to walk; monitoring is purely event-driven via trap reception.

What Can Be Monitored

  • IP address change events
  • interface index of address change
  • previous IP address
  • new IP address
