Description: H3C MIB for configuring FCoE device operational modes including FCF, ENode, and transit switch roles.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is H3C-FCOE-MODE-MIB?
H3C-FCOE-MODE-MIB is an H3C private-enterprise MIB for configuring and monitoring the operational mode of Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) on converged data-center switches, controlling whether a device or port functions as an FCF (Fibre Channel Forwarder), ENode, or transit switch. It exposes configuration/status data: the currently configured FCoE mode and the result of the most recent mode-configuration attempt. Its monitoring emphasis is software/configuration state: confirming which FCoE role a switch is running and whether a recent mode change succeeded, which is important for verifying the storage-network topology is correct after a change. It relates conceptually to the FC-BB-5 FCoE standard and typically operates alongside standard Ethernet and Fibre Channel management in a converged/unified data-center-bridging fabric. Deployment context is H3C data-center switches deployed in converged Ethernet/Fibre Channel storage networking environments. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the H3C-FCOE-MODE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in H3C-FCOE-MODE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C data-center switch with FCoE support
Monitoring Examples
An administrator polls h3cFcoeModeCfgMode to confirm whether the switch is currently configured as an FCF, ENode, or transit switch, and checks h3cFcoeModeCfgLastResult after issuing a mode change to verify it applied successfully rather than failing silently. A mismatch between the intended and actual mode would leave storage traffic unable to reach the SAN fabric, making this a key configuration-validation check.
What Can Be Monitored
- configured FCoE operational mode
- last mode-configuration result
