Description: Ascend GRF router ATMP MIB for managing Ascend Tunnel Management Protocol mobile node and home agent tunnels.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is GRF-ATMP-MIB?

GRF-ATMP-MIB is an Ascend Communications vendor MIB for the GRF family of high-end routers, covering the Ascend Tunnel Management Protocol (ATMP) used to tunnel mobile-IP-style traffic between a foreign agent and a home agent. It exposes configuration and status of ATMP tunnels and the mobile nodes registered through them, tracking which mobile clients currently have an active tunnel back to their home network. Its monitoring focus is on the software/connectivity status of these mobility tunnels rather than physical hardware: confirming whether a given mobile node's ATMP tunnel is currently established is what would reveal a remote-access or mobile client that has lost connectivity back to its home network. It implements the vendor's own ATMP protocol rather than a later IETF standard, predating and conceptually related to later mobile-IP tunneling standards. It is deployed on Ascend GRF routers acting as home agents or foreign agents for remote/mobile dial-up client populations. Engineers can download the GRF-ATMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in GRF-ATMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ascend GRF router (ATMP home agent/foreign agent)

Monitoring Examples

No object or table names were extracted for this module, so a concrete polling example cannot be grounded in real identifiers; in general use, an administrator would monitor the ATMP tunnel/mobile-node table for active tunnel entries, where a mobile node expected to be connected but missing from the table indicates a failed or torn-down ATMP registration back to its home agent.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ATMP tunnel configuration
  • active mobile node tunnel registrations
  • tunnel establishment status
