Description: Greentech OAM MIB for Telnet session management, access control, and CLI connection parameters.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is GBNPlatformOAMTelnet-MIB?
GBNPlatformOAMTelnet-MIB is a vendor OAM MIB (mounted under GBNPlatformOAM-MIB) that manages Telnet-based CLI access on the device. It provides telnetState to enable or disable the Telnet service, telnetUserLimit to cap concurrent Telnet sessions (0-5), and telnetLoginUsers as a live count of currently logged-in Telnet users. The telnetUserTable enumerates each active session by terminal number, giving the client's telnetUserAddrIp, telnetUserName, telnetUserLoginTime, and telnetUserTransport (telnet or ssh), with a telnetUserRowStatus object an operator can set to forcibly terminate a session by deleting its row. Because it exposes live session and access-control state rather than traffic counters, it is primarily useful for security and capacity auditing of management-plane CLI access. It is deployed on devices running the associated GBNPlatformOAM management framework for GBNPlatformOAMTelnet-MIB MIB Browser based Telnet session monitoring.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in GBNPlatformOAMTelnet-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- GBN-managed network devices
Monitoring Examples
An operator polls telnetLoginUsers against telnetUserLimit to check whether the CLI session cap has been reached, and walks telnetUserTable to see each session's telnetUserAddrIp and telnetUserLoginTime; an unrecognized IP address holding a long-lived session would flag a suspicious or unauthorized Telnet login worth terminating via telnetUserRowStatus.
What Can Be Monitored
- Telnet service enable/disable state
- concurrent session limit and current count
- per-session client IP/username/login time
- session transport type (telnet/ssh)
- session row status for forced logout
