Category: Protocol: RADIUS, Vendor: MICROSENS

Description: MICROSENS G6 switch MIB for RADIUS server configuration and authentication/accounting statistics.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is G6-RADIUS-MIB?

G6-RADIUS-MIB is a MICROSENS private MIB for Generation 6 Ethernet switches defining the RADIUS server entries used for authentication and/or accounting, referenced by the companion G6-PACC-MIB. It exposes a server table listing each configured RADIUS server's type (auth/accounting), host address, UDP port, shared secret, and interim accounting interval. This is a configuration-status MIB confirming which authentication backends the switch is pointed at and how they are addressed, important for diagnosing why 802.1X or MAC-based authentication is failing switch-wide. It has a clear dependency relationship with G6-PACC-MIB, which selects servers defined here by name. It is deployed on MICROSENS G6 switches anywhere centralized RADIUS-based authentication or accounting is used. Engineers can download the G6-RADIUS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in G6-RADIUS-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • MICROSENS G6 Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would read serverHostAddress and serverUdpPort from serverTable for a given serverIndex to confirm the switch is pointed at the correct RADIUS server, and check serverServerType to distinguish an authentication server entry from an accounting one. A mismatched serverSharedSecret would be a common root cause investigated here when all port authentications on the switch suddenly fail. serverInterimInterval would be checked if accounting records are arriving less often than expected.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RADIUS server address and port
  • server type (auth/accounting)
  • shared secret configuration
  • interim accounting interval
